So. The hand-wringing and finger-pointing began around 11:00 p.m. on election night when it became obvious that Mitt Romney had (get ready for a shocker) lost the election to Barry - the second time in a row the lad from Kenya had slaughtered the best the Republicans thought they had. The funny thing is, everyone had the audacity to be surprised! Well, not everyone...

Yesterday Reince Priebus told CNN they would do an "autopsy" on what happened. Yes, let's do that. Let's examine the dead body and see if we can come up with a better explanation than death from a self-inflicted wound. Spin it - yeah, that's the ticket. Then we can get ready to put up another mediocre candidate in 2016 and maybe lose again, this time to Hillary.

But, maybe I'm a radical. I'd suggest the Republicans run someone with, say, actual core beliefs - things they actually believe. Then, maybe they could explain to the American people why values actually mean something - why beliefs matter and would be not only good for the country, but for individual Americans, and, by the way, the entire political process. Did we learn anything from Reagan? Apparently not.

But, as I suggested in a previous post, the problem is not really at the head of the Republican Party. The problem is much lower in the food chain. If individuals would grab some values themselves - things they could believe in and defend to the death - maybe it would "trickle up" (sorry Barry) to the political parties themselves.

The Founders knew that as long as the People were right, the country would be right, and that if the People ever lost their way, the country would lose its way. So, they founded a government of, by, and for the People in the hopes that they would correct any missteps their leaders tried to take. Then comes the 20th century when we collectively lost our way. It should be no surprise the country has as well. John Adams gave us the key: "Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other". In these few words, Adams told us how to make our republic work, and we seem to have thrown that away.

God has a way to wake people up. I've said for years that the best thing that could happen to America, possibly is also the worst thing that could happen to America. Unfortunately, after 9-11, Katrina, Sandra and other major disasters, it may take something much worse to begin to wake us up, and at this point, that might not even work.

But here's the key. We don't need the majority of Americans to repent, turn from their wicked ways, seek God's face, and ask for forgiveness and guidance. It only takes a dedicated minority. From the first time the idea of an independent America was born in the mind of an oppressed patriot, dedicated minorities have changed the world. But it's always been that way. Look what Christ did with 12 men (one of whom was not so dedicated).

It begins with each of us. So, decide now. What do you really believe? Why do you believe it? Having that decided, what are you going to do about it? Or are you just going to sit there?

Yeah - I was afraid of that.
