It Is Time!

April 18, 2011

S&P lobbed a hand-grenade into the markets today by lowering its outlook on the United States financial condition.

It is now obvious that even with the historic turnover in the House last year, Congress and the President are going to do basically nothing to cut spending in Washington, and it's nearly two years before any further electoral changes can make a difference. WE DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF TIME!

The Constitution has a remedy for a Federal Government run amok. It's in Article V:

"The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to the Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two-thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for the purpose of proposing amendments¦." [emphasis mine]

As dangerous as a Constitutional Convention might be, I now believe it is less dangerous than letting our so-called representatives continue.

Might I propose:

* A balanced budget amendment that forces cuts in non-defense spending

* Term Limits

And, while we're at it, repeal the 16th Amendment (which created the IRS) and enact the Fair Tax Bill - putting back into the hands of the American People how much they pay in taxes.

It's crunch time, folks, and this can be done at each state level, effectively bypassing the Regime and the Politburo.
