'WHEN in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with one another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel the to the separation.

WE hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.'

These words, written 237 years ago, are just as true now, and for many of the same reasons, as they were in the age in which they were written. In both instances citizens were oppressed by their own government which refused to address their grievances, their so-called "representatives" refused to take the necessary steps to remedy the situation, and, indeed, much was being imposed upon them by those who didn't represent them at all.

To that end, I hereby renounce any political affiliation with any of those in our government at all levels, and pledge to only support individuals who I deem to represent the Constitution as originally intended (e.g. exclusion of antithetical amendments like the 16th), and who, as our founders did, come the closest to pledging their "Lives, Fortunes, and Sacred Honor" in defense of the Constitution. Currently I can count on one hand those individuals who fit that definition, and none of them are from my home state!
