Unless you've been trapped in a cave for the last week, by now you know the much-vaunted and Constitutionally-challenged Health Care "Reform" bill has been passed and signed into law. Never mind it took the sleaziest of deals, the largest of lies, and the collective violation of oaths of office to pass it, and that it will bankrupt the nation - it's now "law". There are options:

* Republicans are trying to tie up the so-called "fix" bill in the Senate, but even if that's defeated, the worst is already codified.

* Many states and a few individuals will challenge the law on various constitutional grounds, but even this is risky because the Supreme Court regularly violates the Constitution in its rulings.

* A majority of the states (38) have announced plans to fight the bill now that it's passed, and they have some clout. The Constitution (when we actually read it) has the option for 2/3 of the states (that'd be 34, so save you from the math) to call a Constitutional Convention, but when that option is exercised, it's almost impossible to limit the scope of what could be on the table, and that's a scary thing

* There's an actual election this year for all of the House, and 1/3 of the Senate, but even if the Republicans and/or sympathetic Independents gain a majority, they'd need a 2/3 majority in the Senate to override an almost certain veto if they try to repeal the bill.

* There's the election in 2012, but by then, the damage will already be underway.

* Then, there's the Rapture, at which point, I won't care anymore (by the way, what about you?).

This is what happens when we elect people who think their allegiance is to their constituency, their party, or the government. Even a majority of the Republicans who fought passage of this bill don't get it. They'd be wise if to actually read the oath they swore when they took office. They swore to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. The Founders knew if they made the Constitution the object to be protected, everything else would fall in place - otherwise everything else would fall apart.

James Madison, in Federalist #10 stated that "Enlightened statesmen will not always be at the helm". Boy, was he ever right! Later, in Federalist #51, Madison explained the system of checks and balances wherein other branches of government could correct a branch that might go off the tracks. In the event that all the branches went off the tracks (as it has now in 2010!), the States could correct them, because by then the train would be way off the track - just like it is now. However, as always, the best remedy was given directly to the people: Kick the bums out! It is now time. It's time for common sense to take over.

Those of you who subscribe to the Patriot Post saw this in today's email. However, for those who did not:

"For many years now, you and I have been shushed like children and told there are no simple answers to the complex problems which are beyond our comprehension. Well, the truth is, there are simple answers, they just are not easy ones. The time has come for us to decide whether collectively we can afford everything and anything we think of simply because we think of it. The time has come to run a check to see if all the services government provides were in answer to demands or were just goodies dreamed up for our supposed betterment. The time has come to match outgo to income, instead of always doing it the other way around." - Ronald Reagan

The war has begun. We've lost the first battle, but there are many to come, and many of them we will lose. However, the goal is not to win the battles. The goal is to win the war.

Buckle up!
