Quora Answer: Will We Work In Heaven? What Will We Do There? Do You Go To Heaven Immediately, Or Do You Wait In The Grave Why Did It Take God 3-4 Billion Years To Create The Earth? Artificial Intelligence - What Could Go Wrong? How Did Moses Know God Created The Heaven And The Earth I'm So Scared Of Death And Dying and being Nonexistent. |
Question from Quora.com"If God took just two days (Wednesday and Thursday) to create every form of life on Earth, why did it take him 3.4 billion years to create the Earth?"
April 6, 2025 God provided enough information for man to infer His existence, but not enough to make it absolutely impossible to doubt. Why would He do that? Because He wants us to come to Him by faith, the "substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen", as the Apostle Paul defined it in Hebrews 11. Man has free will to decide what to believe, but the information is given, including all the actual evidence around us, that will lead us to Him if we choose to!But, to your actual question, the Bible allows for the "billions of years" possibility right there where it should be - "In the beginning"
Genesis Verses 1 & 2 begin... "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"...Verse 3, though, begins, "Then, God created light"..., a statement that ends with "and the evening and morning were the first day", and thereafter all following events end with similar phrases. What happened between verses 2 and 3? It's called the "gap theory". You want to introduce doubt that God did what the Bible says He did? Maybe God didn't want to just give all the details away. Maybe He wants you to exercise some of that faith stuff. If you really want to know if God exists, earnestly ask Him to show you with the intent to believe if He reveals Himself, and He will do so. C. S. Lewis found God this same way after having been an atheist all his life, as have many others. Do you really want to know? God's Holy Spirit will provide that evidence, but you gotta ask, and be willing to believe! Personally, I believe He created the heavens and the earth in six literal days. Why? Because He can! |
